Dundee young people have just achieved the best results ever seen at Helm, a specialist grassroots youthwork provider in Dundee, working with over 200 young people every year.

New records include :

73.6% of all young people progressing into jobs and college places over the last 12 months, beating all previous records

Engagement of our school age students is at its highest ever at over 80%, with some individual students recently even recording 100% attendance

100% of our school age students leaving Helm in May will be progressing into either a college place, training opportunity or a job of their choice

Helm are providing more development options available for students than ever before, including a new graffiti project, our social enterprise training garage, a new cooking skills programme, landscaping projects, new DIY skills sessions, mobile beauty services working with residents in care homes, and gym sessions led by Dundee’s Marc Navarro

Helm are also celebrating just being awarded the largest employability contract for young people in Dundee for the new financial year starting in April 18

Helen Sykes, CEO and recent winner of the IOD Tayside Regional Director of the year said “We are so proud of all our students and their achievements. They bring humour, life and energy to Helm, visibly grow in confidence and resilience during our programmes, and work hard towards their futures with us every day. I would like to pay special tribute to the whole staff team at Helm and all our volunteers who make these results possible and whose patience, leadership, determination, and creativity is evident every single day. We also could not achieve what we do without the fantastic support of our Board, all our partners and funders, especially Dundee City Council and Skills Development Scotland, and the entire business, education and voluntary community in Dundee who all support us and our students in so many ways. We love the work we do”
